Born and raised in Tema, Ghana, the 23 year old comes from a musically-inclined family and so it’s no surprise she cultivated an ardent interest in music at a very tender age. Calaiss, whose real name is AJ Mensah is a multi-talented rapper, singer, writer and producer. She grew up on a lot of music and eventually learned how to play the drums and the keyboard taught by her Uncle, a multi-instrumentalist. Calaiss naturally has an ear for sound thanks to a form of synesthesia which has helped nurture the gift she has.
